Ribbon Scarf

Have you ever heard of the stuff called 'Solvy'?  I just discovered it and I'm not going to lie...I laid awake one night thinking of more ways to use this stuff.  Its not the cool ways you can use it, its the way it dissolves in water that has me wanting to use it daily!  I know.  Simple people.

I bought it to make a ribbon scarf that I saw in one of the library books I picked up a couple weeks ago.  I couldn't remember exactly how to make it, just the items needed.  So like all my projects...the end result was a surprise to me as well!

This project is one you'll want to do on the floor, unless you have a REALLY long table.  Which I did not. Hence, the floor shots.

I started with 6 different ribbons, two of each color.  Use ribbon that can get wet!  I cut a length of Solvy (figured by wrapping it around my neck to determine the length I wanted it.)  Then laid it on the floor.  I laid out the ribbon and left an extra 6 inches on each side to be the 'tassels'. 

Once the design was laid out, I sewed a straight line down the center of each ribbon.

Then I started at one end and straight stiched back and forth,

The picture below shows the Solvy still attached after stitching is done.

Next soak it in water.  It took about 30 seconds for all the Solvy to dissolve.  It was cool to watch it just melt away!

Then just let it dry and put it on!  

I'm not a scarf person, but I like how this turned out.  It has already made it into the wardrobe as a staple item.
